STACEY GILLIAN ABE

Stacey Gillian graduated with a BA Hons in Art and Industrial Design from Kyambogo University in 2014. She has exhibited her work at a variety of group exhibitions including: Women without Borders, Institut Francais Kinshasha (2014); Kampala Contemporary (2016), Circle Art Agency. Nairobi, Kenya, AtWork Kampala Chapter 03 (2016) Dakar, Senegal, Eroticism and Intimacy- Faces, Places and Paths the Underground Art Space (2016), Being Her(e), KAURU Contemporary Art Project (2017). Luanda, Angola. She has also participated in: KLA ART 014 (2014); 7th and 8th Bayimba International Festival of the Arts (2014, 2015); The Kampala Art Auction (2015), Art crossing boarders- Pawa 254, Goethe institute (2015) Kenya; 7th Insaka International Artists workshop Zambia (2015), AtWork Kampala Chapter 03 (2015) The Moleskin Foundation, and Maisha, Film Foundation, Uganda, (Re) Thinking Feminism and Black womanhood (2016), Goethe Institute. Uganda, the 2nd Kampala Art Biennale (2016). Uganda, the Johannesburg Art fair FNB -AfriArt Gallery (2017). South Africa, 4th Silk Road Festival and Exhibition (2017) Xi’an China. Gillian also has completed a residency at: 32° East | Ugandan Arts Trust (2014); Nafasi Art Space Dar es Salaam (2015); Culture Vultures Morocco (2016), Salem Art Works (2017). New York, USA and holds a certificate in Cultural Leadership- Arterial Network, Goethe Institute (2015). She is a receiver of the new talent award (2nd place) - the boda boda project KLAART 014(2014), a Prince Claus fund award (2016), An AIR award -Residency for Artists and Writers (RAW) Arts of Africa and the Global Souths-Rhodes University and The Mellon Foundation. South Africa (2017) and a nominee for Africa Centre AIR (2016) Award.
